HONG KONG · PRE-ARRIVAL REGISTRATION & VISIT VISA

Your Hong Kong trip starts with the right entry route.

Whether you need permission to visit Hong Kong depends on your passport, not on where you live. British citizens visit visa-free for up to 6 months, but many UK residents holding another nationality need a Pre-arrival Registration or a visit visa first. We confirm your route, then handle the application and the documents, start to finish.

Hong Kong runs its own border

Not China, not Macao, its own rules.

Hong Kong has its own immigration system, separate from mainland China. British citizens are visa-free for up to 6 months, many nationalities are visa-free for shorter stays, Indian nationals register online before a short visit, and some passports need a visa for any trip. Getting the route right is the whole job, and it is the first thing we check.

Check first, book second

We check your passport at the free consultation stage, before any fee changes hands. If you are visa-free, we tell you and you keep the service fee in your pocket.

Pre-arrival Registration

Online, usually valid for 6 months for multiple stays of up to 14 days each. Quick when it works, but it must match your passport exactly, and a refusal means applying for a visa instead.

Planning mainland China too?

A Hong Kong entry does not cover the mainland or Macao. We can run your China visa alongside it, keeping the dates and the story consistent across both.

Entry rules, stay periods and fees are set by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and can change. We confirm the current rules for your passport before you apply.

We guide you through the official process

London to Hong Kong, every step through official channels.

Pre-arrival Registration is done entirely online. A visit visa goes to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, often lodged with the help of a sponsor in Hong Kong. We never submit through unofficial third-party sites.

Flight time London → Hong Kong: about 13 hours. Time you’ll spend on your paperwork with us: about 20 minutes.

Autumn

Clear skies, low humidity and comfortable temperatures. The best views from Victoria Peak and the best weather for the hiking trails, which is why it is also the busiest and priciest window for hotels.

Festivals
January–February

Winter

Cool, dry and mostly sunny. Lunar New Year brings fireworks over Victoria Harbour and the city at its most festive, though some shops and restaurants close for a few days around it.

March–May

Spring

Warm and increasingly humid, with fog some mornings. Art Basel and the Rugby Sevens fill the calendar, and outdoor sightseeing is still comfortable before the summer heat arrives.

Typhoon season
June–September

Summer

Hot, very humid and the wettest time of year, with typhoon warnings that can pause flights and ferries for a day or two. Hotel rates drop, and the city is built for it: almost everything is air-conditioned and connected.

Autumn is Hong Kong at its best and its busiest, so book hotels early. If you need a visit visa, apply well before you book anything non-refundable. Pre-arrival Registration moves faster, but must be done before you fly.

Questions about Hong Kong

Things people always ask.

Do I need a visa to visit Hong Kong?

It depends on your passport. British citizens can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 6 months. Many other nationalities are visa-free for shorter periods, while some need permission in advance. Indian passport holders need a Pre-arrival Registration for stays of up to 14 days, and some nationalities need a visit visa for any stay. We check your passport against the current rules before anything else.

What is Pre-arrival Registration?

An online registration that Indian nationals generally need before visiting Hong Kong for up to 14 days. A successful registration is usually valid for 6 months for multiple visits, each of up to 14 days. The details must match your passport exactly, and you should carry a printed copy when you travel.

When do I need a visit visa instead?

If your stay is longer than your nationality’s visa-free or registration period, if your passport is one that needs a visa for any visit, or if a Pre-arrival Registration is refused. The visit visa is issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and usually needs fuller documents, often including a sponsor in Hong Kong.

Do I need a sponsor in Hong Kong?

For a visit visa, applications are commonly supported by a local sponsor, such as a friend, relative or business contact, who can also lodge the application for you. We tell you what your sponsor needs to provide and prepare it with them.

How long does it take?

Our own side takes 3–7 working days to have your application accurate and submission-ready. The time after that belongs to the Hong Kong Immigration Department and depends on your route, so apply well ahead, especially for a visit visa.

What does it cost?

Our service is £79 per traveller for Pre-arrival Registration and £79 for a visit visa. Any government fee is set by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and paid separately. We confirm it for your passport during your consultation.

Does a Hong Kong visa let me visit mainland China?

No. Hong Kong runs its own immigration system, so a Hong Kong visa or registration does not cover mainland China or Macao. If your trip includes the mainland, you need a China visa as well, and we can run both applications together.

How long must my passport be valid?

British citizens need a passport valid for at least 1 month after the date they plan to leave Hong Kong. Other nationalities are generally expected to hold at least 6 months’ validity. We check your passport dates at the first step.
