Most first-time applicants are granted a single-entry visa tied to their specific trip, but frequent travellers visiting family regularly, or attending recurring business trips may be eligible for a multiple-entry visa, allowing repeat visits to Ireland within the visa’s stated validity period.
Ireland sits outside the Schengen Area, and a UK visa stops at the Irish border. If your nationality requires an Irish visa, you need one regardless of what else is in your passport. This is the misunderstanding that sends people to an airport they will not fly from, and it is the first thing we settle.
A first application is usually granted as single entry, tied to the trip you described. Multiple entry tends to follow a documented history of travelling and returning so if you visit family several times a year, the case for it is built out of your previous trips, and we make that argument explicitly rather than hoping it is noticed.

It depends on your nationality, not your UK status. British and Irish citizens travel freely between the UK and Ireland under the Common Travel Area, with no visa required that is a permanent arrangement, not an exemption that could change. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens do not need one either. If you hold a passport from a visa-required country, you will need a Short Stay ‘C’ Visa, and that is who this service is built for.
Can I use my UK visa or Schengen visa to enter Ireland?
No. Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area, and a UK visa does not extend to Ireland. If your nationality requires a visa for Ireland, you need a separate Irish visa regardless of any other visa or immigration status you hold. This is the most common misunderstanding we correct, and it is worth being certain about before you book anything.
